AMI makes six different types of high temperature fabrics for welding safety use, ranging in temperature resistance from 225°F (107°C) to 3000°F (1650°C). They are designed for a wide range of applications and levels of heat exposure, and are available with a variety of fibers and coatings.- AMI-GLAS® - 100% fiberglass

- CARBO-GLAS® - Carbon-fiberglass composite

- AMI-SIL® - Essentially pure amorphous silica
FM Approved Fabrics
All AMI FM Approved fabrics are labeled with the proper rating prominently displayed. Un-Rated Fabrics
Materials that have not been FM Approved have been categorized as Light and Medium Duty based on experience. Field-testing is highly recommended. For a listing of AMI Un-Rated Fabrics for welding protection, click here.- Light-Duty Fabrics: Choose Light-Duty fabrics when working in open, low-risk areas where there will not be excessive weld or cutting spatter; primarily for vertical use.
- Medium-Duty Fabrics: For most welding applications with some degree of fire risk, choose Medium-Duty fabrics; can be used as drapes, curtains or drop cloths, but should not be used for horizontal capture of concentrated spatter and red-hot cut pieces.
